"HaKoss" / The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Translated into Hebrew by Naphtali Herz Imber "author of HaTikva". New-York: S. Levine, [1905?]. English and Hebrew.
Poems by Omar Khayyam translated into Hebrew by Naphtali Herz Imber. Accompanied by an English translation by Edward Fitzgerald. The book opens with a printed dedication by Herz Imber to Judge Mayer Sulzberger (English), foreword by Joseph Jacobs and a poem by George Alexander Kohut "for Naphtali Herz Imber".
The poet Naphtali Herz Imber (1856-1909), composer of "HaTikva", was the first to translate poems by Omar Khayyam into Hebrew. He worked diligently on the translation at an old age, while staying in New-York. At the time he was penniless and lived on a monthly allowance donated by Judge Mayer Sulzberger, to whom he dedicated this book.
