Upon both sides of the title page of Toraht Gittin, signatures and owner inscriptions of Rabbi Moshe Yosef Av Beit Din of Sheps appear in Hebrew and in another language.
Erudite glosses appear in the same handwriting upon the sheets. [Partially cut off].
The Ga’on Rabbi Moshe Yosef [Segal] was born in Plonsk (Poland), was the son in law of Rabbi Mordechai Ha’Cohen [Greenbaum] Av Beit Din of Sheps (mentor and rabbi of Rabbi Leibaleh Eiger). He served in the rabbinate in the small town of Kitzberg. After his father in law passed away in the year 1859 the Sheps congregation divided into two congregations and Rabbi Moshe Yosef was appointed as Rabbi of the group of Mitnagdim, until his death in app. the year 1880.
