Rabbi Noson Tzvi (Ish Shalom) Friedman (1914-1993, appears in Otzar HaRabbanim on cover page) was disciple of his grandfather Rabbi Ya'akov Peretz Friedman, Rabbi in Hungary. He also learned with Rabbi Ze'ev Wolf Gintzler. In 1936, at the age of 22, he was appointed as Rabbi and "maggid shiur" in Chevra Shas of Kahal Yere'im in Budapest, and also as posek on matters of Issur and Heter and of Mikvas through the Badatz Eida Chareideis of Budapest.
After the holocaust he served for two years in the Fernwald rabbinate, in the She'erit HaPleita DP camp in Germany. In 1947-1952 he was rabbi in Giv'at Shmuel, and served as rabbi of Shikun Hei in Bnei Brak from the year 1953. He was one of the leading rabbis in Bnei Brak and Israel.
He is best known for his encyclopedic work "Otzar HaRabbanim", which lists over 20,000 rabbis from the past thousand years.
Two of his scholarly works were printed – Netzer Mata'ai and Parpera'ot LaTorah.
