Eleven high quality porcelain plates, made in honor of the wedding of Flora Avraham and Solomon David Sassoon. Vienna, 1876.
High quality porcelain plates, decorated with gold, pink, purple and green (two different patterns: seven bear one pattern and four the other). Every plate is signed on its verso with the manufacturer's mark and the artist's signature. "Wahliss Wien" [Ernst Wahliss] and" Made in Austria."
In the center of each plate: the monogram "FSS"– The initial letters of "Flora", "Solomon" and "Sassoon". Over the monogram is a bird with a branch in its beak.
Solomon David Sassoon (1841-1894) and Flora nee Avraham (1859-1936), were married in 1876, when Flora was still a young woman. After her husbands' death in 1894, Flora managed for several years the family owned textile business, in Bombay. In 1901 she moved to England.
