Souvenir Plate Marking the Establishment of the State of Israel – "If you will it, it is no dream" – United States
Ceramic souvenir plate, decorated with a map of the Land of Israel, created to mark the establishment of the State of Israel. United States [ca. 1948].
A map of Israel, its borders according to the UN partition plan, appears at the center of the plate. Tel Aviv is the only city represented there. Beside the map are the words "If you will it, it is no dream". The words "Republic of Israel, May 14, 1948," and Israeli flags appear at the edge of the plate. The outer rim of the plate is decorated with a gold line. Signed "N. Trought".
The captions "Dedicated to the pioneers of Palestine, Newark Stores Inc. N.J.," and "First Edition 23 Karat Gold" appear on the reverse of the plate.
Diameter: 27.5 cm. Good condition.
