Varied collection of 35 tokens. Europe, Curaçao and South Africa. 19th and 20th century (one token from 1612).
In the collection are some tokens minted as a substitute for money at times of shortage, tokens for use in various stores and for other purposes. Among the tokens:
• Token from the time of Louis XIII , France, 1612. • 13 "Judenpfennig" tokens. Tokens of this kind were minted by Jews in the Rhineland during periods of shortage of coins, 1809-1822. • Token issued by "Jeshurun & Co." [Curaçao, late 19th century]. • Two porcelain tokens issued by the merchant Henry Seligmann, Hannover, 1921. • Token issued by Finchen & Kleinmann, Natal (South Africa), [ca. 1930]. • Token for use in the café "Batty Muller" with a Star of David in the center, [France]. • Token with the legend "Hermann Tietz, Berlin". Hermann Tietz was one of the founders of the first department stores in Germany. • Token with the legend "Goldschmidt & Loewenick" [shoe manufacturing company, Frankfurt]. • And more.
