Book by art historian Paul Durrieu about the illustrations by French painter Jean Fouquet (1420-1481) to Josephus Flavius’ "The Antiquities of the Jews." Copy number 18 of an edition of 50 copies, printed on thick, high-quality paper sheets, unbound.
At the end of the book are 27 plates, with prints of illustrated pages from the original work: the marriage of Adam and Eve, the Israelites in the desert, David learns of the death of Saul, and other images. Each plate is accompanied by a tissue guard on which is printed a description of the illustration and the number of the page on which it appears.
[2], 132, [1] pp + [27] print plates (numbered), approx. 41 cm. Good condition. Stains and slight damage (mostly to first and last leaves and to margins). First and last sheets with paper covers. Restored tear to paper cover of first sheet. Inserted in folder (modern), with pieces of the original folder.
