Moses Montefiore – Lithographic Copy of Letter, 1885

A letter of gratitude from Moses Montefiore, in lithographic printing, sent to the President and members of the synagogue council of the Hebrew congregation Amsterdam, L.P. Jacobs and to the council's members. Ramsgate, 1885.
Copy of a handwritten letter of gratitude, printed in lithographic printing and sent to those who congratulated Sir Moses Montefiore on his 100th birthday. Addressees' details and the date of writing (June 4th) were added by hand (by Montefiore's secretary, Louis Loewe).
The Montefiore coat of arms is embossed on top of the leaf with the word "Yerushalem" in Hebrew.
Leaf 32.5 cm. Good condition. Stains (some parts of the leaf are slightly darkened). Folding marks and slight creases.
Enclosed: A copy of an autograph letter from Montefiore's secretary, Eliezer Loewe. The letter, in lithographic printing, was sent to L.P. Jacobs with Montefiore's letter. In this letter Loewe apologizes for the delay in sending the letter due to Montefiore's (medical) condition.
