Sefer Toldot Hateba, (natural history) about three things…"animal, vegetable and mineral… according to nature scholars" by Shalom Ya'akov Ben-Haim Moshe Abramovich [Mendele Mocher Sefarim] (Hebrew). Two volumes – second book: Birds; third book: Reptiles. Vilnius, 1872 / Zitomir, 1866.
A nature book about reptiles by Harald Othmar Lenz, translated and adapted by Shalom Ya'akov Abramovich (Mendel Mocher Sefarim). Presented here are the second and third parts out of a series of three parts (the first part was printed in 1861).
* Third part: Reptiles. Vilnius: Romm, 1872. Additional title pages in Russian and German.
The book is accompanied by seven illustration plates.
[5] leaves, [IX]-XXXII, 303, [1] pp, 7 plates, 20 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains. A number of tears (two pieces of paper pasted to Russian and German title page. Irregular page trimming. Illustration plates are slightly trimmed at margins. Hard binding, blank, with a pasted paper label with the title of the book (written by hand).
* Second part: Birds. Zhitomir: A.S. Shadow, 1866. Additional title page in German.
Eight illustration plates are lacking, replaced, at the end of the book, by four illustration plates of reptiles, out of the third part.
[9] leaves, XII, [2], 456 pp, [4] plates (out of the third part). Eight plates are lacking. 20 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains and significant dampstaining. Creases. Trimmed margins to a number of leaves. Several leaves not separated at margins. One detached plate, all the others are partly detached. Pen inscription on German title page. Slightly damaged cardboard binding.
