Figures From the Bible, two portfolios of prints by the artist Avraham Yaskil. No publisher, place nor date listed. [Israel, early 1950s?].
Artist and teacher Avraham Yaskil (1894-1987) established the Association of Artists and Sculptors in Haifa and Northern Israel. In the mid-40s, he founded the first museum of Israeli and Jewish plastic art in Haifa.
1. Figures From the Bible, by A. Yaskil. Copy no. 5 of a limited edition of 100 copies.
Portfolio containing 12 prints. Enclosed is a folded sheet with introductions by Dr. Ze'ev Goldman, director of the Acre Museum, and by Shraga Avneri, a writer who lives in Haifa. The prints and enclosed sheet are signed and numbered by the artist.
[1] folded sheet + [12] leaves (prints), 50X69 cm. Very Good condition. Minor damages to plates. Illustrated portfolio cover with cloth spine. Few stains to cover and slight tears to corners.
2. Figures From the Bible II, by A. Yaskil. Copy no. 33 of a limited edition of 100 copies.
Portfolio containing 12 prints. Enclosed is a folded sheet with an introduction by Yeshurun Keshet, a poet and literary and art critic. The prints and enclosed sheet are signed and numbered by the artist.
[1] folded sheet + [12] leaves (prints), 48X68 cm. Very Good condition. Minor damages to plates. Illustrated portfolio cover with cloth spine. Stains to cover and slight tears to corners and edges.
