Five large photographs of Shavu'ot and Purim celebrations in "Aliya HaNoar" home in Slevino. Slevino (Italy), mid-late 1940s.
On the back of two photographs appear dedications written by hand (in pencil), to "Shoshana… photographer of Aliyat HaNoar home in Slevino".
The Children's home in the Italian town of Selvino was active between the years 1945-1948 and housed about 800 Jewish children, holocaust survivors. The children studied what they had missed in school and various crafts and were prepared for immigration to Palestine. Some of the Selvino children immigrated to Palestine in 1946 while others immigrated after the establishment of Israel and were absorbed in various Kibbutzim.
Photographs: approx. 20X22.5 cm. Good condition. Creases, tears and open tears at margins (mostly slight). Stains on the back. One photograph is numbered on the back.
