Tur Orach Chaim with the "Va'Yigash Yehuda" Commentary by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chanales (the Maharlach), who was a Disciple of the Rama – Lublin 1599 – Single Edition – Extremely Rare
Arba'ah Turim, Orach Chaim. With the "Va'Yigash Yehuda" Commentary by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chanales (the Maharlach). Printed by the four printing partners, one of them (Rabbi Ya'akov) was the commentator's brother. Lublin, 1599.
Single, extremely rare edition. The book has never been seen in auctions! Despite the importance and uniqueness of the composition, it was never reprinted. A summary of the commentary was printed in the editions of the Tur that were printed since the 1740's, including new editions that were printed in recent years.
The author of the commentary: Rabbi Yehuda Leib Chanales (the Maharlach) was a dicisple of the Rama. In the composition before us, he comments on the Tur the Beit Yosef and the Rama. The book before us is often called after him "Tur Rabbi Chanales". The author did not see his book being printed since he died in 1596. The printing was done by his brother.
A lacking copy. Originally, there are 221 leaves. The copy before us lacks the title page and leaves 2-9 as well as leaves 10-16 and leaves 211-221, they have been completed by a photocopy.
Condition: Fair-Good. Tears, some of them partially restored. Moth signs (some of them salient). Stains. Small omissions of text in several leaves. A large copy. New binding.
