Aruch - Dictionarium Chaldaicum. Translated into Latin by Sebastian Münster.

First Latin edition. Elaborate title-page after Hans Holbein. Extensive marginalia throughout in an early hand. pp. (8) 434, (1). Lightly stained, small repair to upper margin of opening three leaves. Recent calf, spine rubbed. 4to. Vinograd, Basle 27; Prijs, Basle 26.

Johann Froben, Basle: 1527.

On the strength of his important contributions as a mediator of Jewish learning to Christian scholars, Münster was elected to the chair of Hebrew at Basel in 1527. When John Calvin came to Basel in 1534, he gave himself to the study of Hebrew under Münster’s guidance.
