Torah Novellae handwritten by the Rebbe Rabbi Meir Yechiel Ha'Levi Holstock and His Son the Rebbe Rabbi Yechezkel Ha'Levi of Ostrowiec – Has Never been Printed
Seven leaves of Torah Novellae handwritten on behalf of the Rebbe Rabbi Yechezkel of Ostrowiec by one of his disciples. One of the leaves is even earlier, with novellae by his father, the first Rebbe of Ostrowiec, Rabbi Meir Yechiel Ha'Levi Holstock.
The Torah Novellae of the two Rebbes, the father and his son, were mostly lost and only a little survived. To the best of our knowledge, the Torah novellae before us was never printed!
One of the leaves is an official leaf of the Rebbe Rabbi Yechezkel from the 1930'2.
The Rebbe Rabbi Meir Yechiel of Ostrowiec (1861-1928) was one of the most prominent Rebbes of his generation. For 39 years he served as the rabbi of Ostrowiec. Among his disciples: Rabbi Klonimus Kalman Shapira, the Rebbe of Piaseczno.
His son, Rabbi Yechezkel (1887-1943) was a leading disciple of the Rebbe of Czortków. After his father's death, he replaced him as the rabbi of Ostrowiec. He perished in the Holocaust with his seven children. The Rebbe had intended to publish his writings in a book titled "Mareh Yechezkel' yet most of his writings were lost.
