Perspective view of the Jews' hospital proposed to be erected at Jerusalem. Print in color by Vincent Brooks (1815? - 1885), [1976?].
Moshe Montefiore, who planned to build a hospital in Jerusalem whereh Mishkenot Sha'ananim neighborhood was established, commissioned the lithograph according to a plan drawn by an architect (does not appear here). The hospital was not erected since the Rothschild family also built a Jewish hospital in Jerusalem, and with the estate bequeathed by Yehudah Toro Montefiore founded the neighborhood. In 1976 an elaborate reproduction of this lithograph was published in Philadelphia for the 28th anniversary of the State of Israel and 200th anniversary of the United States. Published by Winchell Co.
