He was born in Zablatov, to family of Vizhnitzer Chasidim. Disciple of Rabbi Meir Arik. He began to serve in rabbinate in 1908, and became rabbi of Brashov in 1928. He wrote Afarkesta Di'aniya, Michtam LeDavid, and other compositions on all areas of Torah. He is well-known for releasing women whose husbands were lost in the holocaust from their status as married women, by halachic means, thus enabling them to remarry.
