A. Sefat Emet Responsa, by Rabbi Nissim Matityahu Terani. Livorno, 1797.
On leaf 29 a handwritten gloss with a signature in initials of the Rishon Le'Zion, Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi. Attached is material on the identification of the signature.
Rabbi Avraham Ashkenazi (1810-1880), the Rishon Le'Zion and Chief Rabbi of the Land of Israel. After his immigration to the land of Israel in 1820, he was appointed a Dayan in the Beit Din of Rabbi Mordechai Navon, the author of "Bnei Binyamin". In 1864, he became Av Beit Din. In 1869, he was chosen as the Rishon Le'Zion and Chacham Bashi. He served in the position for 12 years, until his death. He published the book "Takanot Yerushalayim", which was printed by Reb Avraham Beck in 1841. He acted for the Jews of the land of Israel. Among others, he bought the plot of the grave of Shimon Ha'Tzadik. Recently, his book, the "Mahara Ashkenzai" Responsa has been published.

On the title page, a signature: "I have bought … Raphael Elazar Ha'Levi ben Tovo…"
Rabbi Raphael Elazar Ha'Levi ben Tovo, a Gaon and Posek, Rosh Av Beit Din of the Ma'arvim community of Jerusalem. He was born in Rabat. Immigrated to the Land of Israel in 1858. When he arrived in Jerusalem, he was appointed Rosh Av Beit Din of the Ma'arvim community. The author of "Pkudat Elazar" (three sections) on the Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim (Jerusalem, 1887-1910). Among his disciples: Rabbi Avraham Avichazar, Av Beit Din of Alexandria.
