Kobe Bryant (b.1978) is an American former basketball player who played the shooting guard for the NBA's Los Angeles Lakers. Bryant was the Laker's all-time top scorer and one of the most successful players in NBA history. After leading the Lakers to three straight championships between 2000-2002 together with Shaquille O'Neal, he led the team to two more championships: in 2009 and 2010. Bryant is rated third top scorer of all time in the NBA, and in February 2016, he was selected the 12th-best player in the history of the league by ESPN.

In the course of his NBA career, Bryant won many personal titles: He finished two seasons as the league's top scorer; he was chosen once as the MVP of the regular season and twice as the MVP of the finals; he was chosen 15 times for the All-NBA team of the season and 12 times for the All-Defensive Team; he also appeared 18 times in the NBA All-Star game, and became the All-Star MVP four times, which is an all-time record. Bryant's personal and team achievements determined his status as one of the best basketball players ever.
