Letter Calling "To Guard Against All The Nonsense and Vanities that Prevail in the World Today," Letter of Encouragement and Blessing For a Young Couple, from the Admor of Shatz - London, Rabbi Shalom Moskowitz

Letter of encouragemant, blessing and guidance by the Admor Rabbi Shalom Moskowitz of Shatz, London, to his son and daughter-in-law on the occasion of their marriage.

Specifications: [1] leaf, paper. 11x17 cm. Handwritten and signed by the Admor.

"I wish you the blessing, mazal tov, mazal tov," a letter of blessing upon the marriage of his son and daughter-in-law, wishing them pleasure and sustenance, to follow the straight path and have the sole goal of mitzvot and fear of Hash-m. "And may we merit hearing good news from you and from all our brothers, the house of Israel, in all their places of residence, may it be so." The Admor warns against new fashions, "Which are like a current flowing around the world which requires weighty wars to combat their entrance into the house of Israel, for they are haters of the body and soul, not just the soul," and calls for extra vigilance, especially in these countries, from all the absurdity and vanities that prevail in the world today. He quotes the Yerushalmi: "[When] a man guards himself two or three times, the Makom will then guard him." He adds, 'And we need work to merit this, may the merit of our holy forefathers stand by you to build a faithful and kosher home.'

At the letter's close, the Admor mentions Mr. Lebow, who due to financial difficulties cannot send them what he had wanted to send, and wishes that with Hash-m's help he will be able to do so in the future.

The Admor Rabbi Shalom of Shatz [1878-1958]- scion of the maggid of Zlotchov. He was great in revealed and hidden Torah and halachah, and wrote halachic books. He was ordained at a young age by the Maharsha"m of Berezhany, who spoke very highly of him. In 1927 he moved to London, gained fame as the Admor of Shatz and was known as a salvation-worker. In his will, the Admor promised that he would arouse mercy in heaven on behalf of anyone who visits his grave and takes upon himself to strengthen his mitzvah observance, and to light candles. His grave became a pilgrimage site, especially on Fridays. Refer to: Encyclopedia L'Chassidut 3, 661-662. His son, Rabbi Yisrael Yaakov Moskovitz passed away in 1953, predeceasing him. His Torah essays were printed in the book, Shearit Yaakov [London, 1957].

Condition: Fine. Fold marks, tiny aging stains.
