Sefer Yessod: Chelkat Mechokek on Shulchan Aruch. Kraków, 1670. Rare First Edition. Beautiful Copy

Shulchan Aruch MiTur Even HaEzer, with the Chelkat Mechokek elucidation by Rabbi Meir Lima, av beit din of Vilna and Brisk. Kraków, 1670. Rare sefer. To the best of our knowledge, a complete copy of this sefer has not been offered at auction for many years, certainly not in such beautiful condition.

First edition of this fundamental sefer of adjudicative literature, printed to this day in editions of Shulchan Aruch. The Chelkat Mechokek is one of the earliest and most important commentaries on Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah. It later became part of the basis for the sefer Apei Ravrevei, which was printed later.

Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the author. Rabbi Moshe Lima.

Stefansky, Sifrei Yessod 164.

[2], 104, [2], 105-140 leaf. 29 cm. Antique rabbinic owner's signature on the title page. Leaf [1] bears a beautifully written antique list of sefarim.

Very fine condition. Minimal aging stains. Worming perforations in several leaves, mainly in the inner margins. Glue for reinforcement in a number of leaves. Borderline page cut in one leaf. Pair of perforations and a sticker in the corner of the title page, without damage to text. New semi-leather binding.
