Sefer Magen Dovid. Homilies and elucidations on the parshiyos by HaRav HaKodesh…Rav Dovid of Tolna - son of Rav Mordechai of Chernobyl, founder of the Tolna dynasty.
Rav Dovid of Tolna (1808-1882) was renowned for his ruach hakodesh and the wonders he did. Born in 1808, his father was Rav Mordechai of Chernobyl. He was named for his maternal grandfather, Rav Dovid Leyekes of Bar, a talmid of the Besht. From a young age, he was known for his wisdom and sharp line of thinking. He was the son-in-law of Rav Yisrael Avraham of Tcherni-Ostrag, son of Rav Zusha of Anipoli. When his father passed away in 1837, he started serving as Admor in Tolna, which quickly became one of the biggest centers of chassidus in the Ukraine.
