16th Century. Rare. Mirkevet Hamishnah, Abarbanel. First edition. Sabbioneta, 1551. The first Hebrew work printed in Sabbioneta.
Sefer Mirkevet Hamishnah – commentary on Devarim (Mishnah Torah), by Don Yitzchak Abarbanel. First edition, Sabbioneta, [1551]. The commentary on the other chumashim were first printed decades later, in Venice 1579.
The last leaf, a: Poem to the author and his lofty works by Azarya ben Moshe min Ha'adumim. Illustrated title page.
This was the first Hebrew book printed in Sabbioneta [Vinograd, Sabbioneta, 1].
The last page features two printer's devices: The device of Tobias Foa, in a circle, and the device of R' Yosef b"r Yaakov of Padua. Some copies only have Foa's device. Refer to: A. Yaari,
Diglei HaMadpisim HaIvriim. Yerushalayim, 1944, #19.
The last page bears an antiquated owner signature and owner stamp of Rabbi Bentzion Ettlinger son of Rabbi Yaakov Ettlinger, the Aruch L'Ner.

The title page and following leaf have marginal blemishes with a little loss, but have been professionally restored. One leaf is partially burnt, with loss, and another leaf has a tear without loss that has been lightly repaired with old tape. Censorship erasures. New binding. Overall fine condition.
