A single leaf – handwritten on both sides by the Chasam Sofer in his youth when he was about 28 years old in Prostiz, where he served for the first time as Rosh Yeshiva and where he began teaching Torah
One of the first manuscripts by the Rav of the Diaspora, Meor Yisroel, the Chasam Sofer.
Rare and special!
A leaf, two written pages, forty three lines handwritten by Maran the Chasam Sofer, on Sugyot of tractate Shabbat, leaves 133-143 and more. Some later glosses by his grandson who published the writings of the Chasam Sofer, the great Gaon Rabbi Yosef Naftali Stern.
Due to the sanctity of the innovations of Maran the Chasam Sofer, it is accepted that the manuscript itself is a Segulah for Yiras Shamayim and salvation in all matters. Tzaddikim saw these manuscripts as a Segulah for surviving fires.
The Segulah of manuscripts by Maran the Chasam Sofer is well-known and many Tzaddikim of following generations greatly praised them:
The holy Gaon Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ehrenreich of Shamloy wrote that all his words, sermons and Halachic and Aggadic innovations are full of sanctity and purity, Yiras Shamayim and Chassidus.
The holy Gaon the Maharam Benet said that looking at the Chasam Sofer's scripts is a Segulah for Yiras Shamayim.
And so it is told: Once, a halachic responsum from the Chasam Sofer was received by the Maharam Benet. He studied it for some time. When those around him asked whether he had found something requiring additional study in the responsum, he answered with a no yet added that he was studying the responsum because just looking at it was a Segulah for Yiras Shamayim (Foreword to Derashot Chasam Sofer, page 6).
The holy Rav Rabbi Yoel of Satmar also stated that just seeing the Chasam Sofer's script was a Segulah for Yiras Shamayim.
