בספר פרקים העוסקים ברשמים מאתרים שונים בארץ ישראל, כגון פרדסי התפוזים ביפו, שער יפו, הכותל, ויה דולורזה, קבר רחל, הדרך ליריחו ועוד. כל פרק מלווה בהדפס פוטוגרבורה של תצלום מאת הצלם ססיל שאדבולט (Cecil V. Shadbolt).
הנרי אנדרו הרפר (1900-1835) היה צייר שנודע בציורי המזרח שלו. היה חבר ועדה ב-Palestine Exploration Fund וכתב כמה ספרים העוסקים במסעות בארץ ישראל.
