Shut HaBach. Frankfurt am Main, [1697]. First Edition. Sefer Yesod.
Shut Bayit Chadash. By Rabbi Yoel Sirkish Av Beit Din of Krakow and author of the important commentary Bayit Chadash on Arba'ah Turim. With an important foreword and approbations by Rabbi Yosef Shmuel Av Beit Din of Frankfurt and Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas Av Beit Din of the Sephardic community of Amsterdam.
In some copies of the book which had been studied by the censor, the word "משומד" (convert) was erased from the indices and questions 91-92. In this copy, there are no stamps of the censor and the word was not erased at all.
Some of response 127 of the Shut (the end of the response) about "what is sung in synagogues using tunes that are sung in their prayer houses" does not appear in later editions.
Printed in Simanim 134-135 are the responses of the author of Sefer Me'irat Einayim - Rabbi Yehoshua Folk Katz, to the Bach.
In this edition, printed by mistake at the end of the above Simanim is the signature "Yoel" of the Bach.
Title page with a border of branches and flowers. Above it, an illustration of two cherubs. We know of a different copy in which the title page has a border with figures.
Frankfurt am Main, [1697]. First edition. Sefer Yesod.
Edited by R. Shlomo Zalman of Frankfurt, who was the son-in-law of Rabbi Meir Stern of Amsterdam. Rabbi Meir Stern himself was the son-in-law of Rabbi Mendele Bass of Frankfurt, a leading disciple of the Bach, and he had owned the manuscript. After the above Rabbi Meir passed away, his wife - Rabbi Mendele Bass' daughter, gave the manuscript to be printed and even paid for the expenses.
