The book, Sefer Minhagim, is about
customs of the Jews of Ashkenaz, around the year. Includes Yiddish translation (in Hebrew letters). Over 30 magnificent, artistic, woodcut illustrations depicting Jewish life and Mitzva fulfilment over 300 years ago.
Sefer Yesod of Asheknaz customs.
The author,
Rabbi Eizik Tirnau, compiled the customs, adding his teacher, Rabbi Avraham Klausner’s customs.
The Rema’s glosses on Shulchan Aruch regarding Ashkenaz customs are based on this composition. The book morphed into a fundamental resource book on Jewish life, and was reprinted in over a hundred editions, including editions with Yiddish translation.
Woodcut illustrations include Havdalah, candle-lighting, Kiddush Levana and more.
