Rembrandt [1606-1669] - Engraving - 1637
Original engraving by great artist Rembrandt, signed with plate and dated 1637.
Some have identified the figure before us with Rembrandt's self-portrait, and indeed similarities can be found between the figure before us and the self-portraiture illustrated by Rembrandt in particular for the self-portrait he illustrated 3 years later in 1640, though it is difficult to determine.
Rembrandt Van Rijn (born 1606-1669), born in Leiden, the Netherlands: painter, artist, Dutch print artist and engraver, one of the greatest artists of all time. His great works (especially his paintings) glorify the Mauritius Museum in The Hague, the National Gallery in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, and other museums around the world.
