This is how the inauguration day and ceremony was described in the 'Davar' newspaper of February 18, 1949: '... From the early hours of the morning, a special feature was felt in the city for the big event. The flags spread over the walls of the houses. In the shop windows, the photo of the elected president appeared in the presidential throne ... The residents of Jerusalem flocked from their various neighborhoods to the streets where the president's campaign was about to pass ...
