R. Meir Chodosh. Yerusholayim 1944! Rare! Historic letter.
Long letter (typed and signed followed by an additional autograph paragraph), by R. Meir Chodosh, on behalf of the Beis Midrash L’Torah (Kollel) of the Chevron Yeshiva. He goes into detail about the Torah situation in Yerusholayim in general, as well as the philosophy of the Chevron/Slabodka Yeshiva, and implores R. Goldstein to do all he can to help financially. Written during the Holocaust, this letter provides a glimpse of the general situation in Eretz Yisroel and of the Yeshivos in particular during those turbulent times.
R. Meir Chodosh (1898-1989), was born in Paritch, Lithuania and first studied in Shklov under R. Pesach Pruskin, before travelling to the famed Slabodka Yeshiva, eventually becoming one of the foremost pupils of the Alter of Slabodka. In 1926, he was sent with a select group to found the Chevron Yeshiva. In 1936, upon the passing of R. Leib Chasman, R. Meir was appointed as the Mashgiach of the Chevron Yeshiva.
25.5 by 22 cm. Very fine condition. Stains. Some wear on the margins.
