"Baitchland" Stories of Jewish life in Nazi Germany. New York 1939!
Literally translated as “The Land Of The Whip”, this book records six stories in Yiddish about Jewish life in Nazi Germany, by Chaim Margoles Davidson. This book is of particular historical importance as it is one the very first publications to record in detail the religious persecution and atrocities committed by the Nazis. Published in February 1939, the author attempts to awaken American Jewry, to the evil schemes of the Nazis against European Jewry. Unfortunately, these early reports were not taken seriously by many, who were convinced that the “cultured” Germans would not stoop to such depraved activities.
With illustrations by I. Zeldan and S. Reindorf.
48 pages. 22 cm. Excellent condition. Original wraps
