Zos Toras Ha'Chatos. Cracow 1591. Beautiful Copy!
Halachos of “Issur V’Heter” written by R. Moses Isserles (The ReMA). This is the first Halachic sefer of the ReMA.
The Toras Ha’Chatos establishes the final Halachic laws and customs for Ashkenazic Jewry, which in many cases differ from the rulings of R. Yosef Karo in Shulchan Aruch. Although this was initially met with some opposition, ultimately the rulings of the ReMA were universally accepted by Ashkenazic Jewry.
See Vichuach Mayim Chaim by R. Chaim Ben R. Betzalel (brother of the MaHarAL of Prague), who was a contemporary of the ReMA.
The title page states, that this edition has the advantage of being printed from a copy of the work corrected by the ReMA himself.
Vinograd Cracow 146. Prostitz press. 84, 19 pages. 20 cm. Very fine-excellent condition. Some foxing. Modern binding.
Opening bid $1000
