Sefer Ha'Rokeach. Cremona 1557. Beautiful Copy.
Classic early sefer, including ethics, rabbinic law and customs, by R. Eliezer of Worms. The sefer is one of the most classic Halachic seforim written by one of the Rishonim and had a tremendous influence on the latter commentators.
R. Eliezer of Worms (circa 1176–1238), was one the well-known Rishonim. He served as Rov in Mainz, and was a signatory on the Regulations known as “Takanos SHUM (Speyer, Worms & Mainz). He was also famous as a “Paytan” and Mekubal. According to legend, through kabbalah, R. Eliezer was transported by a cloud to Spain to acquaint the RaMBaN with the mysteries of the kabbalah. He was one of the last of the Chasidei Ashkenaz.
In their introduction, the printers sharply attack the proofreader of the Fano edition [1505], which had many errors, possibly due to the fact that the printers were non-Jews.
Vinograd Cremona 14. Vicenzo Conti press. [4], 91, [1] pages. 29.5 cm. Very fine condition. Small restoration to title page very slightly affecting text. Magnificent, restored, antique wood and leather binding.
