Dr. Isidor Schalit

One of the close assistants to Theodore Herzl and his personal secretary. After Herzl published his book "Der Judenstaat", he was offered by Schalit to form a brigade of 2000 Jewish volunteers that will conquer Jaffa out of the hands of the Ottomans and determine facts on the ground that will "put Zionism at he center of world attention"; however Herzl rejected the offer.

In the fifth Zionist World Congress (1901) Isidor was head of the action commitee formed by KAKAL followinng the recommendation of Zvi Hermann Shapira in the first Zionist congress. As of 1905 he served as the head of the Zionist Histadrut in Vienna.

Later on he was one of the organizers of the 10th congress, the 13th and the 14th.
