Personal copy of Rabbi Meir Auerbach, the "Imrei Binah": Mishneh Torah L'Rambam, section 4, with prominent signatures and glosses. Dyhernfurth, 1814.
Volume from the Mishneh Torah by the Rambam, the fourth section also known as the Sefer Nezikin. Two covers. [2], 141, 169 pages. A few moth holes, light stains, generally good condition.
The cover has an especially important signature of ownership: “I sign it, Meir bahag Itzik Auerbach, in the books of the Rambam, perhaps to think about it day and night.” Refers to Rabbi Meir Auerbach, Rabbi of Jerusalem (see below) with a number of long glosses in the body of the work written by him. Additional signatures that weren’t checked thoroughly. Stamp: “Library of the Chochmei Lublin Yeshiva.”
Rabbi Meir Auerbach of Kalish and Jerusalem (1815-1878) was the son of Rabbi Yitzhak Isaac, a rabbi in Kalish, Kvili, and more. Moved to Jerusalem in 1859, was appointed to lead the Old Yishuv together with Rabbi Shmuel Salant. He authored Imrei Binah, Jerusalem 1869. Authored articles in Ohr Torah and Kvod HaLevanon and Tvunah.
