Ein Tnai B'Nissuin. First Edition. Vilna 1930.
In the early Twentieth century, a suggestion was made in Paris to make a Halachic marriage “Kidushin”, contingent on various conditional clauses, thereby creating a situation where the marriage could later be annulled without a traditional bill of divorce “Get”. This was an attempt to alleviate the position of a married woman remaining an Aguna in the case of a husband unwilling to provide a Get. The suggestion was fiercely opposed by almost all of the great rabbinical leaders of the time, who saw it as a great threat to the sanctity of the Jewish people.
Ein T’nai B’Nissuin is an extremely sharp polemic decrying this suggestion as a blatant breach of Halacha. With an important introduction by R. Chaim Ozer Grodzensky and responsa and correspondence regarding the matter by over 400 Rabbonim.
Kriness-Kovalsky press. 7, 28 pages. 25 cm. Very fine condition. With original wraps.
Opening bid $200
