Four Notebooks of Torah Novellae by R' Elchanan Moshe Kunstadt, Rosh Yeshivah of Kol Torah

Four notebooks filled with lessons, Torah novellae, mussar discourses and more, handwritten by the gaon Rabbi Elchanan Moshe Kunstadt, rosh yeshivah of Kol Torah.

* Lessons in tractate Gittin with the addition of novellae in the name of Rabbi Naftali Trop of Radin. It concludes with a copy of a condolence letter sent by Mara"n (?) z"l for his brother's passing. Most wondrous letter, in which wrote, inter alia, "I also received this from my rabbis - that the entire matter of mourning is to share the burden of one's fellow, as there is no place for mourning, Heaven forbid, except to know of this: to consider his fearsome situation, which is judgement."

* Lessons in tractates Ketubot and Gittin.

* Notebook of mussar discourses -"Shmuessen": One "shmuess" is on the topic of expending effort ['השתדלות'], by the mashgiach Rabbi Yerucham Leibowitz, ztz"l, "as related by his son, R' Sh. Z." Appendix: lesson from the beginning of Baba Kamma by "My friend R' Binyamin Zilberger, shlit"a." There are also Torah novellae for the beginning of tractate Baba Batra written while he was in Vilna.

* Many novellae by Rabbi Chaim HaLevi Soloveitchik of Brisk (apparently from the copies); many lessons from Rabbi Naftali Trop; lessons innovated by the author in 1946, in Jerusalem; Torah novellae "which I wrote in Bombay (India) where I had no books at all."

The gaon R' Elchanan Moshe Kunstadt [1917-1995] was a rosh yeshivah of Kol Torah, one of the oldest and most prominent yeshivahs in the Land of Israel. He was born in Germany to his father the gaon R' Baruch Kunstadt, who was a disciple of the Pressburg yeshivah and also served as Av Beit Din and lecturer in Fulda. After Kristallnacht, R' Baruch fled to the Land of Israel. He settled in Jerusalem where he established the yeshivah together with his friend R' Yechiel Michel Schlesinger (for immigrants from Germany), which was later named "Kol Torah." After R' Baruch's passing in 1967, his son R' Elchanan Moshe was appointed rosh yeshivah in his place.

R' Elchanan was a disciple of the great yeshivahs: Nitra, Hungary; Mir, Lithuania; and Lomza, Petach Tikva. Everywhere he studied, he stood out for his great talent, his nobility of spirit, his humility and his superlative fear of Heaven. His dedication to the yeshivah in general, and to its students in particular, was boundless - not limited by time or any other barrier. His study method in his lessons, and the entire process of his thought and conduct, were characterized by digging for truth and honesty. Truth formed his personality, and he attempted to impress his noble characteristics on his disciples and associates.

[4] notebooks of approximately [250] written pages, approximately 19x15 cm; overall moderate-fine condition. Tears, some with lack. Some of the leaves are not bound.
