Mikrei Dardaki by Rabbi Hillel of Kolomyya. 19th Century. Copy which Belonged to the Son-in-Law of the Author, Rabbi Asher Anshel Lichtenstein of Kolomyya

Mikrei Dardaki on chumashim Bereishit and Shemot, two parts with separate title pages. First edition. Lemberg and Kalocsa, 1888-1890 respectively. There are owners'stamps at the beginning of the chumashim in Hebrew and in Hungarian from the author's son, Rabbi Baruch Benedict Lichtenstein, and the author's son-in-law, the Admo"r Rabbi "Asher Anshel son-in-law of the Av Beit Din of Kalocsa."

Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein [1815-1891] was among the disciples of the Chatam Sofer, Av Beit Din of Margareten, Klausenberg, Szikszó and Kolomyya. He was one of the greatest Hungarian zealots of his time. He was born to his father, Rabbi Baruch Benedict. Rabbi Chaim of Sanz, author of Divrei Chaim, said of him: "Anyone who questions him, it is as if he questions the Divine Presence."

Rabbi Asher Anshel Lichtenstein of Kolomyya [1864-1937] was the nephew and son-in-law of Rabbi Hillel Lichtenstein of Kolomyya. After his marriage, he served there as a dayan. He moved to Klausenberg during WWI, where he served as Admo"r and became famous as the Admo"r of Kolomyya (the "Kolomyyer Rebbe"). His son Avigdor Alter Hillel Lichtenstein succeeded him in Klausenberg. His son-in-law Rabbi Pinchas HaKohen Steiner was the rabbi of his father-in-law's study hall in Klausenberg. His son Rabbi Chaim Ya'akov ascended to Jerusalem in 1922. His Chassidim saw him as a "wonder worker" (Transylvania pp. 580. He Chatam Sofer V'Talmidav pp. 121).

[9], 122; [10], 132 leaves. 21 cm; moderate-fine condition. Brittle paper. Aging stains. Restored title page with lack in the white margins without damage to text. The last pages are lacking/restored. New binding.
