LeBron James (b. 1984) is, according to many opinions, the best active basketball player in the world. He was destined for greatness from an early age - at just 18 years old, he was first overall draft pick of 2003. The star-studded James, who plays the small forward position, is fourth top scorer of all time in the NBA. He earned the title Rookie of the Year in 2003/4, and starting in 2005, has been included every season as one of the best five of the year in the NBA. He has participated consistently in the All-Star game (15 times), three times earning the MVP title at the All-Star game, four times MVP of the regular season, and three times MVP of the finals. He has won three NBA championships - two with Miami Heat and one with Cleveland. He presently plays with the Los Angeles Lakers. He won the bronze medal at the Athens Olympics with the USA team, as well as the 2006 World Championships, and the gold medal at Beijing Olympics and the London Olympics (2012). This Cleveland championship is considered historic because they came back from being behind Golden State 1-3, after the latter recorded a historic achievement by finishing the regular season at 73-9, and was considered the best team in the world.
