Handwritten volume containing Piyyutim, Hassidic stories and additional Torah novellae. Handwritten by the Kabbalist Rabbi Mantzur Ben Shimon. Jerusalem, 1956-1957.


The Piyyutim are written in large square script and are vowelized. The story about Moses is written in regular Ashkenazic script and is also vowelized. The Torah novellae is written in Oriental script. Apparently, yhr Piyyutim and the stories were written by Rabbi Mantzur for his young children.

Rabbi Mantzur Ben Shimon (1912-1998) one of the greatest sages of the Porat Yosef Yeshiva and one of the leading kabbalists of our generation. The great-grandson of rabbi David Ben Shimon. In his youth, he studied with his uncle Rabbi Aharon Ben Shimon. In 1935 (when he was 22), he was appointed a Ram of the Porat Yosef yeshiva, a position he held for decades. His Divrei Torah were gathered in the book "Shemen Hamaor" (7 volumes).
