The Western Wall, Original Print with a Monogram of the Well-Known Work of Alexandre Bida, 1897 (?)

Les Juifs devant le mur de Salomon. Jews by the Western Wall. Original print, with a monogram and an embossment of the painting's title. Published by Boussod and Valadon per the original painting by Alexandre Bida.

Bida made an additional engraving identical to this one after he was informed about a mistake in this engraving. Near the left figure, there is a siddur placed on the floor, which is unacceptable. This mistake was corrected in the new engraving.

Alexnadre Bida (1813-1895) was a French painter who was also known as "the Jewish Christian." He specialized in the East and was a student of Eugene Delacroix. He traveled to Turkey, Egypt and the Land of Israel.

50x60 cm.

Very fine condition. A few light folds in the margins.
