R. Baruch Ber Leibowitz/ Historic letter requesting to daven on his behalf. “My mother’s name is Esther Leah, Please daven for me”! Kaminetz 1932.
Autograph letter by R. Baruch Ber Leibowitz (partially typewritten) to R. Yona Taubenfligel of Woodridge NY. R. Boruch Ber gives a brocho that he should be successful in his learning and should be able to write Chidushei Torah. He continues by apologizing for the delayed response, however he has been unwell and he requests from R. Taubenfligel that he should daven on his behalf, “writing my mother’s name is Esther Leah”! Such a request from R. Boruch Ber is highly unusual!
R. Baruch Ber Leibowitz (1864-1940), was one of the most prominent students of R. Chaim Brisker and was a leading Rosh yeshiva in Lithuania in the era immediately preceding the Holocaust. His yeshiva in Kaminetz became a great center of Torah with students coming from all over the world to hear his Shiurim. His classic work Birchas Shmuel is a fundamental sefer in many Yeshivos worldwide.
22 by 28.5 cm. Fine condition. Slightly torn along the fold marks and on the bottom.
