Autograph letter of rabbinical ordination written by R. Yaakov Herzog. He writes of the great proficiency in Torah displayed by this R. Yosef and how he hopes the Jewish people will benefit from his scholarship.
R. Yaakov Herzog (died 1857), was a distinguished Talmid of the MaHaRaM Mintz. He served as Rov in various important communities including Yolle, Abaryna and Ossad. He authored the Sefer Pri Yaakov on sugyos which has warm approbations from the Chasam Sofer and the MaHaRaM Mintz.
