Two part work including 1- Sefer Beis HaMidrash, seventeen Derashos for the Yomim Tovim; 2- Chidushei Beis HaMidrash, novella on the laws of Pesach. By R. Avrohom Yaakov Gershon Lesser. With approbations by the Netziv and R. Shaul of Plotzk.
R. Avrohom Yaakov Gershon Lesser (1834-1924), was born in Mir, and received rabbinical ordination from R. Yitzchok Elchanan Spektor, R. Isaac Charif of Slonim and R. Shmuel Avigdor. After serving as Rov in numerous Russian communities, he immigrated to the United States in 1882, where he settled in Chicago, serving as Rav in the Bnei Jacob and Beis HaMidrash HaGadol synagogues as well as establishing the city’s first Talmud Torah. He also served as the first president of the Agudas HaRabanim. In 1897, he moved to Cincinnati, serving as the Rav of three synagogues.
