3 of 5 volumes of the first Machzor printed in America, includes Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur and Sukkos. According to the custom of the Spanish and Portuguese Jews.
This was the very first Machzor printed in America and was prepared for print by the famed Rev Isaac Leeser. Although Rev Leeser had virtually no rabbinic contemporaries in America with whom to confer, he nonetheless persevered in the task of preparing many important Hebrew texts for publication. This was in addition to the many other Rabbinic duties he undertook in his noble mission to disseminate Torah true Judaism in unfamiliar and often hostile surroundings. The printing of these Machzorim is remarkable, as historians estimate the entire Jewish population in the United States at less than 15,000 souls.
