Selichos for the 20th of Sivan. Budapest 1946.
Selichos for the 20th of Sivan, in memory of those murdered during the Holocaust. Printed by the Central Bureau for the Religious Communities in Hungary. With an important introduction on the laws of Yahrtzeit, particularly for those who lost relatives during the Holocaust and did not know the precise dates.
The fast on 20th of Sivan was originally initiated by Rabbeinu Tam following a blood libel that took place in France in 1171. Later following the “Tach V’Tat” massacres it was reestablished by the “Council Of Four Lands” as a fast day, with the recital of Selichos. Following the Holocaust the Budapest Rabbinate again reestablished the fast together with these specially prepared Selichos to commemorate the destruction of European Jewry.
