Masa Ha'Hatzalah. Yerusholayim 1947. Many rare photographs.
Rare book documenting the heroic post holocaust relief efforts of Chief Rabbi Yitzchok Herzog. In January 1946 R. Herzog undertook a strenuous nine month journey across war torn Europe, in an effort to aid and encourage survivors. He visited Italy (where famously he met the Pope and demanded the return of Jewish children hidden in Monasteries), France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland, Germany, England, Czechoslovakia and Poland. During the course of his travels, he met with heads of state and diplomats, as well as with tens of thousands of survivors sparing no effort to help the Jewish people. This sefer published by S.Z. Shagari upon R. Herzog’s return, provides a small glimpse of his yeoman efforts to assist the survivors.
Accompanying him on this journey were R. Chizkiyahu Mishkovsky and various others.
104 pages. 23 cm. Fine condition. Original wraps chipped and detached.
