Tzemach Hashem L'Tzvi. R. Tzvi Hirsch of Nadvorna. First Edition. (Berditchev 1818). Fine copy On Blue Paper.
Fundamental Chassidic commentary on the weekly Torah portions, by R. Tzvi Hirsch of Nadvorna.
R. Tzvi Hirsh of Nadvorna (1740-1802), was a close student of the Mezritcher Maggid and one of the leading Chassidic Rebbes of his era. In his youth, he merited spending time with the Ba’al Shem Tov. His primary teacher was R. Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov, who was known to say that Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch was the greatest of his disciples. Many of the great Chassidic leaders of the following generations were his disciples including R. Menachem Mendel of Kosov, R. Tzvi Hirsch of Zidichoiv and R. Avrohom Dovid of Buchatch. He wrote various seforim but is most famous for the Tzemach HaShem L’Tzvi, which was received to great acclaim. The Divrei Chaim is purported to have commented that it is worthwhile to sell one’s Streimel in order to acquire the sefer Tzemach Hashem L’Tzvi.
Includes page 3 which has an approbation from R. Ephraim Zalman Margulies and final additions from Parshiyos Ki Sisa and Shemini, lacking in many copies.
