Chumash Ohr HaChaim-Be'er Mayim Chaim. With a rare approbation of R. Yisroel of Ruzhin. Chernowitz 1850.
Important edition of a Chumash with Chassidic commentaries. At the beginning of Sefer Devorim there are various important approbations. These include R. Yisroel of Ruzhin, R. Chaim of Kosov, R. Sholom Kaminka and others. R. Yisroel of Ruzhin gave only a few approbations and in this letter strongly urges his Chassidim to buy this edition offering a warm brocho of success.
The seforim of the Ohr Ha’Chaim Ha’Kodosh were received to almost unprecedented acclaim, particularly among Chassidim and Mekubolim. The CHIDA in Shem HaGedolim writes of the great esteem that the Ba’al Shem Tov had for the Ohr Ha’Chaim Ha’Kodosh. In a famous instance, R. Chaim Halberstam (Divrei Chaim) wrote, that an individual who does not believe that the Ohr Ha’Chaim Ha’Kodosh was written with Ruach Ha’Kodesh is to be considered a heretic.
