Includes exegeses and deep research into the ikarei halachot and guidelines in the Talmud. Two types of signatures of Rav Avraham Tiktinsky on the two covers, on the first and last page. The author, Rabbi Yitzhak Yaakov Reins of Lida (1839-1915) was one of the great darshanim of his generation, a descendent of Rav Haim Reins (dayan in Vilna during the Gra’s time), student of the Volozhin, Isishok yeshivot and of Rav Yitzhak Yehiel of Karlitz. Certified as a rabbi by Rav Yitzhak Elhanan of Kovna, Rav Shmuel Avigdor of Karlin, Rabbi Eliezer Moshe Horwitz of Pinsk. Was a rabbi in Shokian (1867), Swanczian(1869) and founded a yeshiva there, then Lida 1884. At a meeting of rabbis in Petersburg in 1882, he proposed adding to the curriculum the language of the state and general studies in order to protect the young men who would not leave the yeshivas, but his proposal was rejected, so he established a yeshiva in his town of Swanczian, according to his idea. There was a controversy because of disagreement with extremists and it was forbidden because of libel and he was forced to close it. He then opened a yeshiva in Lida-1884 with general studies. He was a member of Hovevei Zion and travelled to Katowice for a conference, but was arrested on the border. Met Rabbi Shmuel Mohilever and offered him a plan for settling the Land of Israel. He supported political Zionism and was one of the founders of HaMizrachi. The publisher of "Ha-Mizrachi" magazine together with R 'Yavetz. He has authored more than 90 books, including Derech Be'am.
