Missing Genesis and Exodus. Yemenite handwriting of a MarehMekomot in the book on the first page, and stamp of ownership (unidentified) on the page opening Leviticus. The book’s printing began at the new printing house of Yedidya ben Yitzhak Gabbay, son-in-law of the author Rabbi Avraham Gedalya, in 1650, and ended in 1652. At the beginning of the first section the printer added “IgeretShlucha,” which tells of the founding of the printing house in Livorno. Printed with the endorsements of great sages: Rabbi Yisrael Binyamin and Rabbi Yisrael bar AzaryaZe’evi, a sage of Jerusalem, and endorsement of Rabbi Eliezer ben Archa of Hevron. Author of the commentary, Rabbi Avraham bar Shmuel Gedalya, was born in Jerusalem in approximately 1590. Moved to Hevron, where he became a sage.
